Explorer Program

The Ottawa Hills Police Department Explorer Program is comprised of youth ages 14-21 that are interested in careers in law enforcement. The goal of the program is to educate interested youths in methods and objectives of law enforcement, to encourage participation in community activities and to provide a strong foundation for future law enforcement opportunities.

Explorers attend bi-weekly meetings where law enforcement ideals and techniques are demonstrated and discussed. Explorers are also provided with the opportunity to participate in the departments ride-along program.

  • Some activities include:
    • Bicycle Patrol
    • Bike Rodeo Participation
    • Annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk
    • Halloween Haunted House
    • Winter Carnival
    • Supplemental Police Patrols

Note: You need not be a Village of Ottawa Hills resident to participate in this program!

If you are interested in learning more about becoming an Ottawa Hills Police Explorer, call (419) 531-4211 and ask to speak to Sgt. Shelly Miller.
