The Police Department is staffed 24 hours per day and employs 10 full-time police officers and 4 full-time dispatchers in addition to part-time staff. When you call 911, our own professional dispatchers will answer the phone.
The Village Police Department is dedicated to community-based policing. We are equipped and trained to handle a wide range of law enforcement issues that may arise in the Village. We pride ourselves in providing a strong sense of security to our residents. Our enforcement of traffic laws in well known in the region and we believe that traffic enforcement is a fundamental tool for keeping the Village safe. Fair and consistent law enforcement is a key characteristic of our department.
Police officers are very visible in the community. Due to the size of the Village, we are able to offer a high level of service beyond basic law enforcement. Residents take advantage of our House Check program by notifying us when they are leaving town. Their address is placed on the house check list and officers make daily visits to make sure the house is secure. Police officers know the residents, their children and often their pets.
Our officers are active in the schools, presenting the DARE program, Safety Village, chaperoning dances and other school activities.
