Ottawa Hills Schools are currently ranked first in Ohio based on state performance tests. The ranking is a measure of several factors including academic excellence as demonstrated by participation in accelerated programs, advanced placement course offerings and enrollment, overall proficiency test performance, attendance and graduation rate.
In December 2008 U.S. News and World Report included Ottawa Hills High School on its list of America’s Best High Schools. The journal selected 100 gold medal high schools from over 21,000 public high schools evaluated, based on both state proficiency benchmarks and college-readiness performance.
Newsweek magazine also named Ottawa Hills among the “Best High Schools in America” in its May, 2008 edition. Ottawa Hills was included in a listing of 1300 high schools across the nation that qualified for the designation. Public schools were ranked according to a ratio called the Challenge Index devised by Jay Matthews, Newsweek contributing editor and Washington Post reporter. Recognized schools are in the top 5% in the nation. Ottawa Hills has qualified for this prestigious list every year since 1998.
The excellence of our school system is a testament to the dedicated teachers and staff, involved parents, high achieving students, and a supportive community.
